Version 2026-10-11. TruWhos separates necessary cookies from optional analytics.

Necessary cookies

tw_session keeps a signed-in session; tw_oauth_state and tw_login_return protect the Discord OAuth flow; tw_guest supports guest search limits and recent searches; and tw_cookie_consent records the cookie preference selected by the visitor. Necessary cookies are used without optional analytics consent because the relevant service/security feature cannot operate correctly without them.

Optional analytics

If analytics is accepted, TruWhos creates tw_analytics_id, a random first-party identifier. The browser sends page paths to TruWhos' own analytics endpoint. The database stores a one-way hash of the random identifier, the page path and time. The current build does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.

Changing your choice

Use “Cookie settings” in the footer at any time to enable or disable optional analytics. Declining optional cookies does not block access to the service.
